About Falling Text
Falling Text drops words under gravity: they bounce off the walls, pile up at the bottom and can be picked up and thrown. The physics is a few lines of its own, with no engine.
Falling Text is a text animation for React 19, styled with Tailwind CSS 4 and animated with Motion. It drops into Next.js, Vite, Remix or Astro through the shadcn CLI as a single file you own.
When to use Falling Text
- Playful hero sections.
- Interactive about pages.
- Event and party sites.
- Easter eggs.
How it works
Each word is a body with gravity, wall bounces and separation from its neighbours. trigger chooses view, hover or click, and highlight colours chosen words.
The real text stays in the page for screen readers and search engines; the animated letters are decorative copies marked aria-hidden. With prefers-reduced-motion on, it holds still or settles instantly instead of animating.
Customizing Falling Text
Every prop is documented in the API reference above with its type and default. The ones you will reach for first are listed here.
The Customize panel next to the preview lets you change trigger, gravity live, and the Code tab updates to match, so the snippet you copy already carries your values.
- text (string).
- trigger ("view" | "hover" | "click", default "view"): What makes the words drop. With "click", clicking again puts them back.
- gravity (number, default 1).
- highlight (string[], default []): Words to colour ember.
The example on this page
