About Wake Slider
Wake Slider is a slider made of thin bars: the filled bars mark the value, and dragging quickly raises a wake of taller bars behind the handle that settles as you slow down. It looks like an equaliser that you play.
Wake Slider is an input component for React 19, styled with Tailwind CSS 4 and animated with Motion. It drops into Next.js, Vite, Remix or Astro through the shadcn CLI as a single file you own.
When to use Wake Slider
- Audio and music controls.
- Creative tools and synths.
- Dashboards with a single level.
- Hero interactions on landing pages.
How it works
Drag velocity feeds a decaying energy that sets each bar's height by its distance from the handle. It is a slider role with arrow keys, and reduced motion keeps the fill without the wake.
It is a real form control: it has an accessible name, works with the keyboard alone, shows a visible focus ring and announces its state to screen readers. With prefers-reduced-motion on, it holds still or settles instantly instead of animating.
Customizing Wake Slider
Every prop is documented in the API reference above with its type and default. The ones you will reach for first are listed here.
The Customize panel next to the preview lets you change bars live, and the Code tab updates to match, so the snippet you copy already carries your values.
- value / defaultValue (number, default 40).
- min / max (number, default 0 / 100).
- bars (number, default 48).
- label (string).
