About Task Plan
Task Plan shows the plan an agent is following. Tasks tick off with a morphing mark and a drawn strike-through, the active one spins, and a progress bar and count sit in a header you can collapse.
Task Plan is an AI interface component for React 19, styled with Tailwind CSS 4 and animated with Motion. It drops into Next.js, Vite, Remix or Astro through the shadcn CLI as a single file you own.
When to use Task Plan
- Coding and research agents.
- Multi-step onboarding flows.
- Automations with visible stages.
- Project checklists that update live.
How it works
Statuses are pending, active and done, each with its own mark. The strike-through is an SVG line that draws across, the progress bar springs to the done ratio, and the list is a real list with each status in text.
Streaming and status changes go through live regions, every action is a labelled button that works from the keyboard, and decorative motion stops for people who prefer reduced motion. With prefers-reduced-motion on, it holds still or settles instantly instead of animating.
Customizing Task Plan
Every prop is documented in the API reference above with its type and default. The ones you will reach for first are listed here.
The Customize panel next to the preview lets you change speed live, and the Code tab updates to match, so the snippet you copy already carries your values.
- title (string, default "Plan").
- tasks.
- defaultOpen (boolean, default true).
