About Chip Group
Chip Group is a row of selectable chips: the chosen one grows a check while the row reflows smoothly around it. It works as single or multiple choice and can let people remove chips.
Chip Group is an input component for React 19, styled with Tailwind CSS 4 and animated with Motion. It drops into Next.js, Vite, Remix or Astro through the shadcn CLI as a single file you own.
When to use Chip Group
- Filters on search and listing pages.
- Interest and topic pickers in onboarding.
- Category selection in forms.
- Quick replies and suggestion chips.
How it works
Each chip is a checkbox or radio role, and the reflow comes from Motion layout animation as the check widens a chip. Arrow keys move between chips and Space toggles.
It is a real form control: it has an accessible name, works with the keyboard alone, shows a visible focus ring and announces its state to screen readers. With prefers-reduced-motion on, it holds still or settles instantly instead of animating.
Customizing Chip Group

The Customize panel next to the preview lets you change type, removable, size live, and the Code tab updates to match, so the snippet you copy already carries your values.
