About Bento Grid
Bento Grid lays out feature cells of different spans that rise in one after another. Hover a cell and it lifts while the others dim a touch, so attention follows the pointer.
Bento Grid is a display component for React 19, styled with Tailwind CSS 4 and animated with Motion. It drops into Next.js, Vite, Remix or Astro through the shadcn CLI as a single file you own.
When to use Bento Grid
- SaaS feature sections.
- Product overviews.
- Portfolio summaries.
- Dashboard home pages.
How it works
Cells set their own column and row spans, and layout animation keeps the grid steady. The entrance is a staggered variant.
Interactive parts are buttons or links with accessible names, decorative layers are hidden from assistive tech, and everything is reachable by keyboard. With prefers-reduced-motion on, it holds still or settles instantly instead of animating.
Customizing Bento Grid
Every prop is documented in the API reference above with its type and default. The ones you will reach for first are listed here.
The Customize panel next to the preview lets you change columns, gap, stagger, focusOnHover live, and the Code tab updates to match, so the snippet you copy already carries your values.
- columns (number, default 3).
- gap (number, default 12).
- stagger (number, default 0.06).
- focusOnHover (boolean, default true).
- BentoCell span / rows (number, default 1).
- BentoCell title / description / icon (ReactNode).
